It’s not possible to do everything. So, you want to make sure that you’re planning décor that’s will fit in realistically with your life. You want to be able to enjoy your holidays. If you’re feeling unprepared or overwhelmed, you aren’t going to enjoy it.

Decorate Your Whole House

Yes, the entryway and the living room are what will be noticed most. However, you aren’t going to spend the whole holiday there. What about the rec room or your lounge? These are two places that you are likely going to spend time too.

Dim Your Lights

Buy some plug-in dimmers and use them on all of the lamps in your house. They’re not expensive and you can find them almost anywhere. They’re also easy to install. they will help with adding to your rooms’ ambiance.

Choose a Theme When Decorating for Christmas

Many people choose a theme for their holiday décor. Sometimes they keep their theme the same throughout the years, sometimes they will decorate their tree with Christmas balls and other ornaments one year, and the next year they’ll use homemade ornaments. Whatever way you go, make sure that it’s festive and fun.

Be Careful When Decorating for Christmas

If you have pets or children, or you have young niblings or grandchildren coming over to visit, be mindful of this. It’s best to put plastic or non-breakable ornaments on the bottom of the tree. This way, if your ornaments get knocked off or played with, you don’t have to worry about your expensive ornaments being ruined.

Also, if you are going to put a tree in the playroom, this is where you want to use your inexpensive, kid and pet-proof ornaments so that you don’t have to worry about hearing a crash or tinkle when the kids are playing.

This doesn’t just go for the Christmas ornaments, either. Keep other breakables like creche pieces up and away from exploring hands and swishing tails.
